Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead apologizes to teammates!

FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead apologized to his teammates for his actions that led to him being left home from the team’s 10-7 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

His fans would be little sad after hearing Coach Jason Garrett benching him after Cowboys loss against Giants.

Whitehead said he thought about purchasing his own plane ticket to fly to New Jersey to be with his team but opted against hit. He watched the game on television.

The Cowboys replaced Whitehead on punt returns with Cole Beasley and with Lance Dunbar on kickoff returns. There is no guarantee Whitehead will have a spot on the game day roster going forward, especially with running back Darren McFadden added to the 53-man roster for the first time this season. McFadden, who was on the non-football injury list because of a broken elbow, could be used in a kickoff return role.

NFL’s latest 2017 salary cap projection would put Steelers under by $34 million

The Pittsburgh Steelers were always set to have historic amounts of salary cap space in 2017, a fact we noted back in October when we published our detailed breakdown for next season based on an estimated league-wide salary cap figure of $165 million. As conservative as we felt that figure was, the latest numbers coming out of the owners meeting in Dallas on Tuesday are somewhat eye-opening.

Topping $170 million is perhaps unlikely, but for Pittsburgh, any projected increases are merely adding to what is already a very healthy amount of cap room to work with next year. With this latest report from USA TODAY’s Tom Pelissero, the Steelers should be set to have more than $34 million to spend as they face the task of re-signing a number of key free agents and extending the contract of at least one star player, maybe more.
